Veterans Day: Thank you to our heroes

Veterans Day is a U.S. federal holiday that celebrates the heroes that have served our country in the Armed Forces, including the Air Force, Army, Marine Corps, Navy, National Guard, U.S. Coast Guard, and Space Force. It is celebrated annually on November 11 to acknowledge their sacrifices, patriotism and their commitment to keeping all of us safe. Celebrate this significant day respectfully with the help of these tips.

Spend a moment in silence on November 11 at 11 am to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans. Veterans Day was first known as Armistice Day, which marked the end of World War I on November 11 at 11 am in 1918.

Participate in Veterans Day events and parades in your community.

Honor the veterans in your life. Call, write or text family members and/or friends that served and thank them for their service and dedication.

Volunteer for veterans organizations. Find ways you can contribute to the veterans in your local community. Donating your time shows an extra level of support, gratitude and appreciation.

Donate money, clothes, toys or household items to organizations that support our armed forces and their family members.

Support veteran-owned businesses and businesses that hire veterans.

Acknowledge veterans year-round. While November 11 is the designated day for
celebration, honoring veterans throughout the year is a great way to show appreciation.
