As part of Health Advocate’s Maintain, Don’t Gain campaign, many of our members are aiming to maintain healthy habits–like maintaining weight, eating right, exercising, and reducing stress–leading up to, and lasting throughout, the holidays.
Setting aside some time to relax and decompress is important, especially during the hectic holiday season. We asked some of our members who are participating in the Maintain, Don’t Gain campaign how much “me time” they need each day. Here are a few of our favorite responses:
“I like to have 4 to 5 hours of me time a day. I use this time to work out – ride a bike, go to the gym, or play a round of golf.” –Roger
“I’m happy if I can get 45 minutes of “me” time! That’s enough time for a good workout.” –Rhonda
“I feel that if I get twenty to thirty minutes of time to sit and read and relax, I feel much less stressed. It helps me to clear my head and then I can focus better on the other tasks I have to complete.” –Angie
“I like to have about an hour each day to myself. I wake up at 4:30 each day so I have time before anyone else is awake.” –Laurie
“Twenty minutes for the mind (meditation/mindfulness) and forty minutes for the body (exercise), so sixty minutes total!” –Rita
“Personally, I need a couple of hours a day, minimum. I need to take care of me first so I can take care of my family.” –Kimberly
“I take about an hour every morning to do things for myself and have quiet time before the day starts. It’s a nice way to begin fresh.” –Emily
“While I don’t always achieve it, I think an hour a day of me time is necessary. It is one of my goals in 2015 as I work towards a healthier me!” –Kim
