There are many different types of exercises you can do that don’t require any special equipment or a gym membership. You can simply use your own body weight to get in shape! I recently asked some Health Advocate members, Facebook friends, and Twitter followers to share what equipment-free exercises they’re doing or want to try. Check out their great ideas!
My equipment-free exercise of choice is planks and squats. I can do them anytime and anyplace! – Brenda
I am going to use a chair or bench and do the arm exercise where you drop down with your legs in front of you and use your arms to pull yourself back up. This worked wonders in the past for me and I am excited to start them again. – Sharon
I want to work on my core, so I will be implementing planks & side planks as well as crunches and other traditional ab exercises. – Emily
I like taking my dogs for a walk up the hills in my neighborhood. It is equipment-free and cost-free. – Penny
I will be doing bicycle exercises, sit-ups, squats, wall sits, crunches and push-ups. This will help with my core strength. – Erica
We will walk the track that is next to our Plant. It’s a great break, and a chance to get some fresh air, sunshine, and have a quick chat with a co-worker. – Diana
I will be completing 10 flights of stairs daily. For strength and resistance, I will do wall push-ups, calf raises, and chair leg lifts using my HEAVY purse as a weight for resistance. I will finish my workout with arm, shoulder, neck, and leg stretches. – Carolyn
Push-ups (modified on knees to start) and the Superman. Both exercises will strengthen the upper body and work on the core. – Kathy
I’m going to add in some dancing and I’ll even try a few lunges. – Naila
I will try to push myself to do push-ups. I have a weak upper body so this will be a challenge for me. – Linda
