Ringing in the New Year is a fantastic opportunity to kick off 2020 in both a healthy and fun way. While the parties can be a great celebration, there are many other ways to welcome the New Year feeling energized and excited for what lies ahead. Try one or more of these this year to start 2020 with a bang:
Celebrate early. Instead of struggling to stay up past midnight and paying for it the next day, shift the party to noon! Many children’s museums, libraries and similar venues host family-friendly Noon Year’s Eve parties to allow even the youngest revelers to join in the fun. By celebrating earlier in the day, you, too, can enjoy the festivities while still getting a great night’s sleep. If you’d like, host your own Noon Year’s Eve party and invite friends and family to come over for sparkling cider or juice, brunch and other fun activities.
Ring in 2020 with a run. Many cities host midnight 5k runs, a healthy and fun way to start the New Year. There are also many New Year’s Day Resolution Runs to get your health goals off on the right foot. You’ll feel great walking, jogging or running into 2020!
Say ommm. Similarly, a growing number of yoga studios are offering midnight classes on New Year’s Eve. It can be great to be surrounded by others as you reflect on 2019 and set your intentions for the year ahead.
Get out of town. Gather close friends or family and rent a cabin or house nearby to truly unplug and relax before the start of another busy year. Take some time to share favorite memories of 2019 and goals for the New Year without the pressure or hubbub of traditional parties.
Start a new tradition. Find an activity that you enjoy and will set the tone for a wonderful 2020, whether it’s going on a hike, reading a new book, cooking a special meal with loved ones, or going to a special place, and make it your own unique way to welcome the New Year.
No matter how you decide to celebrate, have a wonderful holiday season and a very happy New Year.
