Wellness App Review: Daily Challenge

Do you find it difficult to make healthy changes? Do other things in your life make it challenging to take care of yourself? If so, you may be interested in the Daily Challenge app. This free app, available for both Android and iOS, encourages you to complete one small task each day that benefits your well-being.  Each day you complete the challenge adds up to a healthier you! You can connect with friends and other Daily Challenge users for accountability, encouragement and ideas of how to complete the challenges.

How it works

Upon downloading, you’ll be asked to answer a question that will help the app guide what challenges it will suggest for you. You can choose from increase energy, find fulfillment, relieve stress or “I don’t know” to let the app provide you with a range of challenges to help with overall well-being. Once you select your answer, you’ll be asked to create an account. Next, you’ll receive your first challenge! You can either opt to complete it, or pass if you don’t like it. Each challenge gives you a brief rundown of why the challenge matters, examples of how you do it, and a fun fact. If you’ve chosen to complete the challenge, you can decide whether you want to share your progress/response with the Daily Challenge community or just the people you’re connected with. You’ll then see a feed of responses from others who have completed the same challenge.

Every morning you’ll receive a text message, push notification or email to remind you to complete your challenge. There are a multitude of “tracks” to choose from should you wish to focus on specific areas of well-being. As you complete challenges, you’ll earn points, stamps and progress to different levels.

Pros

  • Quick, simple challenges that contribute to well-being without taking too much time
  • Easy to use, straightforward app

Cons

  • You can’t turn off the social feature or change privacy settings
  • There isn’t much of an explanation of how the tracks work or if you can do multiple tracks simultaneously
  • For some people, one challenge a day might get boring
